Product Shot 1 The Pros:Uses eCoupling wireless charging technology. Future compatible with new phones. Same charging time as iPod/iPhone docking charger.

The Case-Mate Hug is a wireless charging platform that is made to fit iPhone 3G and 3Gs, and is forward compatible with any new device according to the Wireless Power Consortium standard. The charger consists of a tray that plugs into an AC outlet and a case that is specially made to fit the iPhone.

Where to Buy

According to the standard, the tray will charge any type of case and phone that is compatible simply by resting the phone (in the case) on top of the tray. All of the charging is done wirelessly, using green technology to draw just enough power to recharge and no more. The case itself is made to be durable, as well as light and elegant enough to make the phone still comfortable to use, and it is designed with a two part locking mechanism. Surprisingly enough the charging speed is the same as with an iPod or iPhone charger, although a downside is there is no way to place the phone in a dock to sync with a computer while still in the case, you would have to remove the phone first.

Features

  • The slim Hug case provides daily protection for your device while also conveniently charging it when placed on the Hug pad. Charge up without plugging in
  • Green Technology: Hug draws power only to the level your device needs, then nothing more.
  • Interoperable: Any hug case works with any hug pad. So with the same case you can get a power hug on pads at home or the office.
  • The case-mate Hug is one of the first charging pads designed for future compatibility with the Qi standard. The standard will allow manufacturers to create charging stations at airports, coffee shops, in the car and at home – providing consumers with power where and when they need it most.
